“AUXILIARY NEWS”

Beginning my year as your Auxiliary President...President, wow that sounds weird. Anyhow, I will probably sound like a broken record because I will continue to urge all the Auxiliary members to join me on the 1st Monday of the month at 6:30 pm at the Legion for our monthly meeting. We welcome each and every one of you.  Help us  officers to do the best for you and our Post—Looking forward to seeing you.

Remember too, our Casino night. The 3rd Monday of each month we meet at Staples parking lot at 5:30 pm. At the casino, you receive a certificate for $15 of free play. $5 toward a meal, and coupons for Keno. The bus departs at 10 pm to return to Staples—just think, no driving and especially No parking hassle. You cost is $13: $12 for the round-trip bus ride and $1 tip for the driver. When you get there you then have the choice of either playing the  machines or bingo. And who knows, you might just need an armored guard to go home with all you winnings. All are welcome, members and non-members. So tell your friends to come along too. Join us and have some fun. Hey, you never know!!

Remember to pay your membership dues for 2008 as soon as possible. If you don't have your card, pay now. Without an up to date membership , you cannot enjoy the privileges of the Post. Help us meet our quota.

“S.A.L. NEWS”

Summer is finally here and we can all look forward to some good weather outdoors. You SAL plays an important part of the Legion family and all of us can be proud. We contributed thousands of dollars to people needing assistance and that is what this family does—help others! We can only do this  if we replenish the  funds from which we drew.

In June we are beginning a freezer meat raffle. First prize will be 100 lbs. of beef and 2nd prize is half a pig!. With the economy as it is, this type of raffle makes sense. Tickets are only $5 each and  we need to move some tickets. Tickets will be sold throughout the summer and the drawing will take place at our “Steak Bake” on 13 September in the Pole Barn. We need our members to call Dan (337-6585) or Shane (943-9904) to pick up raffle and Steak Bake tickets. The steak bake will have music, food, and fun as usual and tickets are only $10 for a 12oz steak with the works!! We also need items for the Chinese raffle and if there are any large items, we will hold an auction. The date is 13 Sep. from 12—5 pm. Help is also needed.

Your Executive board wishes all of the Legion family a safe and eventful summer and your support is an absolute necessity. We cannot do it without you and we appreciate  you.  God bless this country. The Veterans, and all of you.

S.A.L. Commander, Lee Legion
